Class 379 Abellio Greater Anglia

The Class 379 EMU is yet another design on Bombardier's successful 'Electrostar' line. Thirty examples of this Class were built exclusively for the Stansted Express route. now operated by Abellio Greater Anglia.

One unit (379013) was used to test the usage of batteries in electric trains. The battery unit ran services between Manningtree and Harwich Town in January 2015. This unit has special decals for this event.

The Class 379 has a spacious First Class at one end of a four car set, with 2+1 seating, similar to InterCity operations elsewhere on the network. Standard Class has 2+2 seating with full tables in many seats throughout the train.
The units are currently all maintained by Bombardier at Ilford as part of the contract for the rolling stock order.
